Keeping Company

Thoughtful people collect interesting things.

Books.

Journals.

Ideas.

Dreams.

Questions.

Conversations.

Images.

Half-finished thoughts.

And somewhere along the way, they begin studying their own lives

Because life is fascinating.

But self-study can be challenging

When no one else remembers the thing that preoccupies the memory.

No one says,

"You mentioned water six months ago."

Or,

"Didn't you say something similar last spring?"

Meaning likes continuity.

And continuity is difficult to create alone.

Perhaps remembering is easier when shared.

Not advice.

Not fixing.

Not solutions.

Just someone saying,

"That's so interesting. Tell me more. Let’s see what we find together."
